In response to recent changes in U.S. trade policy, Levy Electric will be adjusting the pricing of our electric scooters starting May 15, 2025.
On April 9, 2025, the U.S. government enacted a substantial increase in tariffs—raising duties on certain Chinese imports up to 145%. This change directly affects critical components used in electric scooters, including:
• Motor controller units
• Brushless DC motors
• Battery cells and packs
• Chipsets and internal electronics
We’ve worked proactively over the past several months to minimize the impact of these changes. This includes shifting our core assembly operations to North America and sourcing key parts—such as battery modules—from manufacturers outside of China, like Panasonic’s facilities in South Korea. However, some essential components are still only available through Chinese suppliers.
To keep our scooters as affordable as possible, we’ve also made strategic decisions to streamline our sales model. That means ending distribution through Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy, and focusing exclusively on direct-to-consumer sales through our website. This allows us to eliminate middleman fees and offer more competitive pricing.
What This Means for You
• Current prices will remain in effect until May 14, 2025, while supplies last.
• Inventory available at today’s pricing was imported before the new tariff increase.
• Starting May 15, expect a price increase across all models.
We strongly encourage you to place your order before the price change goes into effect. Supplies are limited, and once they’re gone, we won’t be able to offer these rates again.
Thank you for your continued support as we navigate these changes and work hard to keep our products affordable, reliable, and accessible.
Thanks,
The Levy Electric Team
